ecological commitment

1. Beware of these words

First of all, NEO TEN will not waste time commenting on every paradox of contemporary greenwashing. They are everywhere. You simply need to know how to recognise them :

sustainable growth, sustainable development, green transition, green deal, carbon neutrality, carbon offsetting, positive impact, responsible growth, responsible extraction, sustainable capitalism, green innovation, market-based ecology, nature-based solutions, circular economy, zero emission, green tech…

One reminder is enough: greenwashing, just like a large part of mainstream ecology, is now an integral part of the problem. It accompanies the destruction of biodiversity, making it acceptable, presentable, financeable, socially digestible.

2. Labels, standards, certifications

A production company wishing today to appear ecological can turn to a wide range of labels, standards and certifications: ISO 14001 (environmental management), ISO 20121 (sustainable event management), B Corp, 1% for the Planet, Carbon Neutral / Climate Neutral, Green Motion / Green Film / EcoProd, certified carbon calculators and other “sustainable production” badges.

Their functioning is almost always the same: implementation of procedures, paid external audits, annual membership fees, the right to use a logo or badge.

These mechanisms do not fundamentally transform production logics. They mainly serve to buy moral cover, reassure investors, broadcasters and large institutions, remain compatible with dominant financial flows. They do not challenge economic structures, production volumes, working rhythms, or the productivist imagination itself.

3. Filming what deserves to be thought, not what reassures

NEO TEN is not a video production company specialising in green communication. We are not interested in greening an existing narrative. We are interested in:

  • the deep causes of the ecological disaster,

  • non-dominant narratives,

  • critical, deep / dark ecological, post-humanist, decolonial and new-materialist thinking,

  • sensitive forms that refuse simplification.

Not to move “forward”. But to step out of the illusion of progress. Because humans do not exist alone. They are defined neither by domination nor by the management of nature. They co-evolve and co-exist within a vertiginous non-human fabric — mineral, vegetal, animal, technical —from which they are inseparable, and of which they are an integral part.

Our work is to track and face our ambivalences towards the living world, with openness and curiosity. Without badges. Without labels. Without hollow promises.
