ABOUT

NEO TEN is a Brussels-based film production company working throughout Europe, rooted in dance film and screendance, and extending its practice into creative documentary.

We think through images, through bodies, movement, attention and relation. Our filmmaking practice has grown through our encounter with dance. It taught us to attend to how bodies inhabit space, how gestures unfold through time, how meaning emerges beyond words, and how the camera inevitably becomes part of what it observes.

This attention follows us beyond dance. Through itinerant and fragile communities, animal tracking, pilgrimage, underground cultures, rituals and contemporary forms of belonging, we explore how people move, relate, inhabit and make sense of the world around them. Our approach is immersive, transdisciplinary and rooted in direct field engagement. We are interested in what lies between the political and the poetic, the intimate and the collective, the ancestral and the contemporary, and in the 10,000 things a frame inevitably leaves unseen.

We believe filmmaking begins with attention. At a time of ecological breakdown, persistent patriarchy and the relentless production and consumption of images, we cannot separate aesthetics from the conditions in which images are made.

The boundaries between bodies and the world are perhaps not as solid as we have been taught to imagine them. What we film, how we film it, whom we film with, and what we choose not to film are part of the same ecology of relations. We make films from within that complexity.
